The Zebra DS8178-HC was specially developed for demanding use in the healthcare sector. Its robust, disinfectant-resistant housing withstands aggressive cleaning agents and reduces potential germ nests thanks to concealed seams and screw holes. It therefore makes an effective contribution to infection prevention - particularly important in areas such as intensive care units, laboratories or operating theaters. Thanks to the innovative Connect+ Contact Technology, reliable, corrosion-free charging is possible via the compact docking station, which can be attached to workstations to save space. its powerful 800 MHz microprocessor, a high-resolution sensor and Zebra's PRZM Intelligent Imaging, the DS8178-HC masters even the most difficult barcodes - whether tiny codes on medication ampoules, curved labels on blood bags or highly reflective packaging. Various feedback modes - including LED, acoustic signal and vibration mode - can be flexibly adapted to any station environment. The night mode allows a silent switch to vibration so that patients are not disturbed during rest periods. With the AutoConfig function, the device automatically switches between different working environments such as the laboratory, pharmacy or patient room without the need for manual switching. The Virtual Tether function, which alerts users when the device is out of range, is also particularly practical.
Intelligent power supply and data managementZebra
offers two innovative power options for the DS8178-HC: the long-life PowerPrecision+ battery with up to 65,000 scans per charge or the PowerCap capacitor, which enables 100 scans after just 35 seconds of charging. Both energy sources can be replaced without tools and automatically report their identification to the IT infrastructure. DataCapture DNA - Zebra's software ecosystem - makes the device fully manageable. UDI Scan+ and Blood Bag Parse+ facilitate the reading of complex data formats for greater patient safety. ScanSpeed Analytics can be used to evaluate scanning performance and optimize processes.
